E\(\times\)B shear suppression of turbulence and zonal flow relaxation in collisionless toroidal plasmas

Theoretical progress in understanding E \(\times\) $\times$ B shear suppression of turbulence and zonal flow relaxation in collisionless toroidal plasma is reviewed. Dependence on the magnetic field configuration is analytically illustrated in detail. In addition, recent research progress on avalanches and E \(\times\) $\times$ B staircases is briefly reviewed.
