摘要

Background

The potential of xenon-doped liquid argon scintillator as a particle detection option has been established, demonstrating enhanced light yield in comparison with pure liquid argon. However, previous studies have produced contradictory findings regarding the influence of xenon doping on the pulse shape discrimination (PSD) capability in liquid argon.

Purpose

The aim of this study is to examine the variations in relative PSD (pulse shape discrimination) performance of the liquid argon detector after xenon doping.

Methods

In this study, we investigate the impact of xenon doping (0-350 ppm) on a 2.2-ton single-phase liquid argon detector. Two commonly used methods for studying PSD in the literatures for scintillation detectors.

Results

The results demonstrate an augmentation in light yield ascribed to xenon doping; however, an evident decline in relative PSD efficiency is observed with increasing xenon concentration.
