This article focuses on the political actions of social pastoralists in the Brazilian Amazon, particularly in the state of Amapá. The aim is to show a shift in the protagonism of social pastoral activities, which take on the character of studies (training courses/lectures/debates) as a form of political action in Amapá. The methodology used is based on oral tradition and the analysis of documents, with a temporal focus on the period between 1980 and 2021, which helps to understand the political formation in this region and also in the 21st century. The discussions on these formative actions had an impact within the Catholic Church and Amapá society, promoting debates on the links with liberation theology.
