Background <p>The aim of this study was to report a rare case of oral leiomyoma (OLM), treated with a high-power diode laser.</p> Case report <p>A 39-year-old man presented with a submucosal nodule on ventral surface of tongue, approximately 1 cm in diameter, with a four-month history. Excisional biopsy was performed under local anesthesia using a high-power diode laser (980nm, 2W, 605.85J). Histopathological examination revealed a proliferation of ovoid and spindle-shaped cells with numerous blood vessels. Immunohistochemistry showed strong positivity for alpha–smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and moderate Ki-67 positivity, confirming the diagnosis of OLM. Postoperative recovery was satisfactory, with no infection, and no recurrence after 19 months of follow-up.</p> Conclusion <p>In this case, the high-power diode laser was effective, providing adequate hemostasis, reduced edema, and satisfactory healing. This appears to be the first reported case of OLM treated with high-power diode laser, supporting its use as a safe therapeutic alternative.</p>

Background
