Advantages of super pulsed CO2 Laser in gingival depigmentation: a report of two cases and review of the literature
摘要
To report two cases of physiologic gingival hyperpigmentation, that was treated safely and effectively using low average power and short pulses of super pulsed Carbon Dioxide Laser, highlight the advantages that can these parameters provide during the procedure of gingival depigmentation and post-operatively, and review the related literature of the use of Carbon dioxide laser in gingival depigmentation.
Case studiesTwo cases of physiologic gingival hyperpigmentation were treated using superpulsed CO2 laser (pulse width 300µs, pulse interval 500µs, frequency 1250Hz, Average power 0.3W, peak power 1W). post-operative complications were at their minimal, and the healing was uneventful. Follow up sessions revealed the stability of the esthetic result in both cases.
ConclusionWith the limitations of this study, it can be stated that using the mentioned parameters, Super pulsed CO2 lasers can provide many advantages in removing gingival pigmentation including ease of work, safety, and minimal post-operative complications, however, more studies are required to support our results.
