Analysis of heterogeneous traffic with density-dependent overtaking
摘要
In developing nations, traffic exhibits a mixed composition of vehicles, including motorized and non-motorized vehicles, which significantly affects the overtaking behavior. Thus, a lattice hydrodynamic model is proposed to study the heterogeneous traffic considering the density-dependent overtaking on a unidirectional single-lane highway. Here, two types of vehicles are considered to have different sensitivities, i.e., low-sensitivity vehicles and high-sensitivity vehicles. Their impact on traffic flow is investigated through linear and non-linear stability analysis. It is observed that the stability of traffic flow increases for high-sensitivity vehicles. The theoretical findings agree well with the numerical simulation.
