摘要

This article introduces a sophisticated and proven “questionnaire to measure work activity characteristics and job satisfaction of dental nurses” (“FArM-ZFA”), which includes determinants and facets of job satisfaction as well as an overall measurement of job satisfaction. Principal axis factor analysis (PFA) indicates nine following factors: relations to superiors, team, patient contact, mental strain, occupational commitment, workday structuring, work activities, salary and communication. Due to a national German survey among dental nurses (n = 1097) very good reliability and characteristic values were found. Six crucial predictors for overall job satisfaction of dental nurses were detected: relations to superiors, work activities, salary, team, structured working day, patient contact (R = 0.74; R2= 55; corrected R2 = 0.54; F (6, 1076)=214.92, p< 0.001).

Practical Relevance: So far ergonomical research considers health professions in huge clinics rather than in small dental or medical enterprises. “FArM-ZFA” provides a solid measurement for questioning dental nurses to collect data about job satisfaction and its influencing factors. Its application allows specific action and interventions at the workplace for upgrading and attractiveness of the vocational profile, for improving work conditions in practices, for education and training of dental nurses, and for securing the next generation of young professionals.
