Kompetenzen von First Generation Professionals: Kompetenzorientierte Reflexion von Karrierewegen
摘要
First generation professionals experience problems and difficulties when entering and pursuing a career in organisations. However, they also develop competences in connection with their social background. In an empirical study with 27 interviews, competences are analysed in a structured way. Based on the results, classic deficit-orientated measures are critically reflected upon and competence-oriented approaches are discussed.
Practical relevance
Social background is increasingly being addressed in diversity management. Problems are identified both when entering the labour market and on the career path. The recommendations for action are often aimed primarily at compensating for deficits. However, the skills that First Generation Professionals develop on their educational and professional path, also due to their social background, are often not recognised and therefore not utilised in organisations. This study analyses job-related competences and discusses competence-oriented approaches that can be implemented in organisations.
