<p>Research and teaching are among the fundamental core activities at a&#xa0;university. However, for many researchers, teaching often represents an underappreciated additional burden in every-day research. Students tend to criticise the lack of linkages between teaching content and applied research practice. The approach of research-based learning attempts to link research and teaching more closely and advocates teaching that involves students in all key phases of a&#xa0;research process as co-creative peers. Although the approach is already receiving attention in current research and teaching, it has not yet become a&#xa0;general norm. However, research-based learning offers many advantages, especially for (political science) methods training that has been considered deficient at times. The article presents experiences from a&#xa0;methodology seminar at the Institute for Political Science (IfPol) in Muenster (Germany), in which the Grounded Theory Methodology was taught and applied as a&#xa0;research style in the context of an ongoing doctoral project on sustainable mobility.</p>
