Brain-Computer Interface Technologies, the Autistic Mirroring, and Twins’ Death: Autonomy and Ethos

Disruptive brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies imply a critical approach: may brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) drive autonomy’s and ethos’ death? On the other hand, the strategy of analysing brain-computer communication as “spectrum” (autistic mirroring) resembles the linguistic impairment levels/bands in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A fuller structural anomalies comprehension of autistic brains might be the key to improving AI-founded BMI. However, given the autistic person’s inability to linguistically validate the information or commands authenticity decoded from her/his brain, the ethical legitimisation of brain-computer communication studies in ASD individuals — such as those conducted by Neuralink (Elon Musk’s startup) — depends on meticulous and unfettered “social control” to ensure the intrinsically vulnerable autonomy of people with autism is protected. Otherwise, the twins “autonomy and ethos” will die.
