»Kulturfrevel« oder kulturelle Teilhabe?
摘要
The article addresses phenomena of simplified literature, which have gained attention through the debate about cultural participation and the establishment of easy and plain language. Based on the heated discussion about simplified literature in literary didactics, literary criticism and faculties, the article depicts which problems are raised by this kind of literature. The focus is on the tension between enabling cultural participation on the one hand and impairing the aesthetics and literariness of simplified literary works on the other. The aim of the article is to outline simplified literature as a phenomenon that is neither new from the perspective of literary history nor can be neglected from the perspective of literary theory. Rather, it is shown that and how simplified literature affects several basic themes and concepts of literary studies: In addition to the concept of literature, the concept of a work, and the formation of a canon, this also includes the question of the relationship between literary practice of professionals and literary practice of non-professionals (especially in the context of digitalisation). A first step is taken towards an ethical discussion of the outlined problems from the perspective of ethics of literature and ethics of access, to thereby objectify the controversial and polarized debate about simplified literature.
