Gegenpropaganda? Zur Rhetorik der Mann’schen Radiosendungen Deutsche Hörer!
摘要
With his radio speeches, which were broadcast to Germany via Radio London from 1940 to 1945, Thomas Mann, from his American exile, wanted to persuade his compatriots at home to resist the Nazi regime. To this end, he drew to a large extent on the potential of rhetorical art, that was his province as a poet. This article has set out to examine this aspect in some important respects, raising the question of the appropriateness of the term counter-propaganda, which, as it is well known, has been so often used by specific research to describe Mann’s action.
