摘要

The article explores the relationship between the body and reading by focusing on the one hand on the bodies of the players and their quality of experience and on the other hand on the bodies depicted in video games. After a theoretical overview of the significance of the body in computer games, which is primarily undertaken from a phenomenological perspective, a proposal is made for a systematization of how reading in video games can be sorted and classified, whereby a narratological nomenclature is used: extradiegetic writing, intradiegetic books and intradiegetic texts. The potential of examining the meaning of reading bodies in video games is then brought into focus using two example analyses of the video games Super Mario Galaxy and What Remains of Edith Finch.
