Technik als kontroverser Begriff in Diskursen um Mensch und Technologie

The following article provides a conceptual-historical sketch of the conceptualisation of ›technics‹ in the public discourse of the so-called ›Berlin Republic‹. In doing so, we are focussing on a term with a long and complex history in German. In German, ›Technik‹ has long been closely associated with the Greek word techné, which refers to artistry and craftsmanship, and since the Enlightenment has developed into a key term that stands for the totality of artificially created, material and immaterial means that humans use to cope with their environment (cf. Pfeifer et al.
