<p>The article takes the linguistic and cognitive-scientific approach of frame, concept and network semantics and combines it with a&#xa0;genuine literary-studies perspective. Starting from the word and concept field ›Rat‹ (›counsel‹, ›advice‹ but also ›riddle‹ and ›supply‹), pragmatics of action and discursive formations are interpreted with regard to specific contexts of genre and in the history of knowledge. The aim is not primarily a&#xa0;quantitative evaluation on the basis of a&#xa0;methodically designed linguistic corpus but rather a&#xa0;qualitative text-analytical approach. Thus, the concept of ›Rat‹ is to be defined more precisely from a&#xa0;historical-semantic point of view by examining frame interferences, especially in the genre of middle high German ›Sangspruchdichtung‹, for variance and shifts in meaning as well as for specification of meaning.</p>
