<p>Darvel Bay, located within the Coral Triangle region of northeastern Borneo, supports diverse reef habitats ranging from nearshore to offshore environments. This study assessed coral condition, diversity, assemblage composition and disease prevalence across twelve reef sites in Darvel Bay to provide baseline information for future conservation and management. Coral surveys were conducted using the Coral Video Transect (CVT) method and benthic composition was analysed using Coral Point Count with Excel extension (CPCe) software. The reefs showed a mean live coral cover of 52.4% ± 5.5, with offshore reefs generally exhibiting higher coral cover and diversity compared to nearshore reefs, likely due to lower exposure to mainland-derived human pressures. A total of 256 scleractinian coral species, representing 70 genera and 15 families were recorded. When combined with previous records from eastern Sabah, the updated checklist comprised 415 scleractinian species from 81 genera and 18 families, including 33 rare, 130 endangered and 24 vulnerable species according to the IUCN Red List. <i>Porites</i>, <i>Acropora</i> and <i>Fungia</i> were among the dominant genera across the surveyed reefs. Coral diseases and signs of compromised health, including skeletal eroding band (SEB), ulcerative white spot (UWS), sediment necrosis (SN) and skeletal damage (SKD) were observed across both nearshore and offshore reefs. Although environmental drivers were not directly measured, the observed spatial patterns may reflect differences in environmental conditions and proximity to mainland influences. Overall, this study provides an updated baseline on coral reef condition and diversity in Darvel Bay, supporting future monitoring and marine conservation initiatives in the region.</p>
