摘要

The Mediterranean Sea is experiencing an increase in the impact of biological invasions, including along the Mediterranean coastlines of North Africa. In this paper, we provide the first confirmed records of three alien serpulid species in Morocco: Hydroides dianthus (Verrill, 1873), H. dirampha Mörch, 1863 and H. elegans (Haswell, 1883), representing therefore the westernmost records of these serpulid worms in the southern Mediterranean. The three species were detected in the harbours of Marchica Lagoon and Saidia Marina, which have become hotspots for the proliferation of non-indigenous species (NIS), highlighting the urgent need for monitoring programmes to address biological invasions in this region.
