<p>The present study investigates the reproductive biology of the dagger-toothed pike conger eel, <i>Muraenesox cinereus</i>, along the Mangalore coast of Karnataka, India, focusing on parameters such as sex ratio, maturity stages, gonadosomatic index (GSI), length at first maturity (Lm50), ova diameter, and fecundity. The research was conducted as a sampling-based study at the Department of Fisheries Resources and Management, College of Fisheries Mangalore, from August 2023 to March 2024. A total of 492 specimens were analyzed, comprising 249 males (50.61%) and 243 females (49.39%). Males ranged from 15.7 to 45.1&#xa0;cm in total length and weighed between 8 and 168&#xa0;g, while females measured between 18.8 and 57.6&#xa0;cm and weighed 9.9 to 183&#xa0;g. The observed male-to-female sex ratio was 1:0.98, with no significant deviation from the expected 1:1 ratio. Gonadal examination revealed five distinct maturity stages in both sexes, with peak maturation occurring in February and peak ripeness in August among females. The GSI values indicated a single spawning season, with a peak in September. The estimated length at first maturity (Lm50) was 29.25&#xa0;cm for males and 26.65&#xa0;cm for females. Ova diameter was measured, and Fecundity 300588 to 525862 eggs per female, with an average of 365,560 oocytes. A significant positive correlation was found between fecundity, total length, and body weight. The findings suggest a seasonal reproductive cycle in <i>M. cinereus</i>, with implications for sustainable management and conservation of the species. Understanding the reproductive parameters, especially Lm50 and fecundity patterns, is crucial for devising effective management strategies and highlights the need for further research on environmental influences affecting reproduction.</p>
