<p>Groupers and snappers represent the primary catch for fishermen operating in the Alas Strait. Due to their significant economic value, it is imperative to develop a thorough fisheries management plan to guarantee their sustainable harvesting. The estimation of population parameters and SPR of dominant groupers and snappers species in the Alas Strait, West Nusa Tenggara were the aims of this study. The stock status was evaluated by TropFishR Studio and conducting length-based spawning potential ratio (LB-SPR) analysis. The growth coefficient (<i>K</i>) of both grouper and snapper species ranged from 0.15 to 0.36 annually. The exploitation rates for <i>Epinephelus coioides</i>,<i> Variola albimarginata</i>,<i> Lutjanus gibbus</i>, and <i>Lutjanus fulviflamma</i> were 0.62, 0.70, 0.68, and 0.71 respectively. These rates indicate that these species were being harvested at a level higher than the optimal rate suggesting that the fisheries are leading to overfishing. Spawning Potential Ratio (SPR) values with limit references point (0.2), <i>Lutjanus malabaricus</i> was classified as under-exploited, while <i>Epinephelus coioides</i> and <i>Lutjanus fulviflamma</i> were deemed fully-exploited. <i>Variola albimarginata</i> and <i>Lutjanus gibbus</i> were classified as over-exploited. This study offers crucial information and recommendations to relevant institutions in the Alas Strait for future management and conservation measures of groupers and snappers’ population.</p>
