<p>Parasitism promoted by isopod crustaceans in the freshwater and marine fishes are widely observed around the world, however, in Brazilian waters, especially in the Amazon region, there is a large gap in knowledge about the real diversity of isopods and their respective hosts. Based on that, this study reports the first observation of the marine parasitic isopod <i>Nerocila acuminata</i> Schiödte &amp; Meinert, 1881, associated with two new fish host species from the Amazon continental shelf. The fishes and their parasites were collected as bycatch during the southern brown shrimp fisheries, using bottom trawl nets (~ 1&#xa0;cm mesh) in 2019, covering depths of 30 to 80 m, in the state of Pará, Brazil. <i>N</i>. <i>acuminata</i> was observed as an ectoparasite of <i>Cynoscion jamaicensis</i> (Vaillant and Bocourt, 1883) and <i>Cynoscion virescens</i> (Cuvier, 1830). Thus, the record of this parasitic isopod from the Amazon continental shelf extends its geographic distribution in Brazilian waters; additionally, it demonstrates the non-selectivity of hosts promoted by <i>Nerocila</i> and updates the host species known for this genus.</p>
