摘要

Sea urchins are marine species originating from the Indo-Pacific and Red Sea regions, having a natural immune system, acting as biocorrosives in coral ecosystems, rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and bioactive components, and generally feeding on rock bottoms and coral reefs as herbivores. Studies are being carried out on Sea urchins as they have the potential to gain economic importance by evaluating their use as biological agents. This study focused on the effects and adjuvant potential of the spine toxin of Diadema setosum, a sea urchin species, on mammalian macrophage cells. Our results suggest that the extracts from this species have adjuvant potential to be utilized in vaccine formulations.
