<p>This study is part of a national program to biomonitor water quality in the Gulf of Annaba, using the bivalve mollusc <i>Mytilus galloprovincialis</i> as a bioindicator of pollution. In this context, we assessed the impact of possible pollution on growth, biochemical and histological composition of male and female gonads, and accumulation of heavy metals in flesh during the winter season of 2023 at three sites: Seraïdi, Chapuis, and Sidi Salem. The maximum size observed is 86&#xa0;mm in Seraïdi against 72&#xa0;mm in Chapuis and Sidi Salem. The study of growth through the measurement of length, height, and thickness shows significant differences between sites with larger sizes at Seraïdi compared to those at Chapuis and Sidi Salem. It is even for fresh total weight, where Seraïdi individuals show higher weights than those of individuals of the other two sites. Analysis of the Condition Index results reveals a fluctuation between sites and months related to the growth of <i>M. galloprovincialis</i> during the winter season. The obtained results show that the quantification of zinc and copper in the flesh of <i>M. galloprovincialis</i> reveals significantly higher values in Seraïdi compared to Chapuis and Sidi Salem during the winter season. For cadmium and mercury, quantification reveals relatively small quantities. The Seraïdi site is the least polluted with trace metals; however, Sidi Salem’s site is the most polluted by the discharges of the Oued Seybouse with is contaminated by the industrial zone located along its river and the discharges of phytosanitary products produced by the industrial unit.</p>
