<p>This research examines the perspectives of Malaysians about the expansion of human rights to refugees, a population confronted with challenges such as armed conflicts and repressive governance. The study employed a quantitative methodology involving 420 respondents with a questionnaire as the instrument. The sampling technique used is purposive with experience in dealing with refugees as the judgment criteria. The location of the study focuses on urban, suburban, and rural areas and data was gathered using a cross-sectional design. The data analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 26 discovered that urban participants generally agree with the expansion of human rights to refugees, but rural participants hold opposing views. The research additionally identified a noteworthy correlation between public perception and many rights about healthcare, education, employment, and legal status. The study revealed that healthcare emerged as the predominant factor influencing public sentiment. The results of this study will aid the government in formulating a comprehensive strategy about refugees in Malaysia, given the urgent nature of the existing policy gap in this domain. This study offers useful insights for several stakeholders, including UNHCR Malaysia, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), researchers, and post-graduate students, as it investigates the perspective of citizens on refugees.</p>
