Polymer-based innovations in concrete: a review on enhancing self-healing capabilities
摘要
Cracks in concrete significantly undermine both structural integrity and durability. Although conventional repair techniques offer only limited solutions, polymer-based self-healing technologies are emerging as a promising alternative. This review thoroughly examines different polymer systems, including superabsorbent polymers (SAPs), polyacrylates, and microencapsulation methods, which enhance the self-healing capabilities of concrete. The discussion encompasses mechanisms, performance metrics, durability enhancements, and practical applications in real-world scenarios. Key limitations and future research directions are also outlined to bridge the gap between lab-scale innovations and field implementation.
