摘要

There is a huge development in e-commerce industry due to the exponential growth in urban population across all the cities in the world. The negative externality of this development is increased use of motorised vehicles which leads to increased traffic congestion and pollution. Therefore, a metro-based urban logistics system is one of the potential solutions to maintain sustainability in urban eco-system. The objective of this study is to determine the prerequisites for integrating logistics networks into the Indian metro network as well as identifying possible obstacles in implementing the solution. The qualitative data required for analysis is collected using questionnaire-based survey. This study focused on identifying the requirements to implement metro-based logistic system and asses these requirements using the TOPSIS methodology. Importantly, the methodological structure of the logistics network, its operation, and mechanism to keep packages flowing smoothly without interfering with passenger movement are also discussed in this study.
