A statistical approach to examine the utilization of bamboo and jute fiber in the sustainable development of concrete

Concrete is the most used building material in the world due to quickly industrialization and urbanization are growing. This paper primarily examines contemporary research on agro concrete, which has been investigated and utilized to enhance the strength and durability of concrete. In this study, bamboo fiber and jute fibers were used as an addition in the concrete. The cube and prism specimens were cast and tested to determine the mechanical and durability properties of concrete. A statistical approach was adopted to explain the experimental results of bamboo fiber and jute fiber concrete. The specimens were tested for dry density, loss in weight due to acidic curing, and compressive and flexural strength of concrete. According to the experimental data, it was clear that mechanical properties increased with the addition of bamboo and jute fibers. It was revealed that while maintaining the value of compressive strength, flexural strength is increased by 11.0 and 12.37% for 2% addition of bamboo fiber and 1% addition of jute fiber, respectively. The optimum percentage loss in weight due to acidic environment was 3.58 and 5.0% for bamboo and jute fiber concrete at 2% fiber addition. The slump value decreases, which can be maintained by using a suitable amount of superplasticizer. The correlation between compressive strength and flexural strength was also established. The cluster analysis using a dendrogram revealed the formation of three clusters.
