Adaptive shelter design: study of assessing and innovating transformable architectural solutions
摘要
For disaster relief, adaptive shelter designs are important and provide rapid and efficient housing solutions. This work’s aim is to innovate transformable architectural solutions, which are foldable, temporary, sliding, and modular. It addresses the requirement for enhanced deployment ease, functionality, transportability, and sustainability. In this work, prevailing designs were analyzed, thus identifying their strengths and areas for improvement. The importance lies in providing durable and cost-efficient housing options for high-risk areas. An extensive literature review, the development of innovative concepts, and case studies of flood-resilient shelters in Bangladesh and ShelterBox units in Haiti are included in this approach. Real-world performance, deployment efficiency, and positive user feedback are highlighted in those case studies. Findings validate the effectiveness of these shelters in providing immediate protection and stability. As per the research, adaptive shelters significantly advance disaster relief efforts by providing robust, flexible, and sustainable housing solutions. Here, the significance of well-designed adaptive shelters in mitigating disaster impacts and supporting recovery efforts for future developments in temporary housing solutions are highlighted.
