摘要

Light-transmitting concrete has been the focus of research in the past decade, especially with the industry focussing on developing green materials or finding effective ways to harness natural energy. This paper provides the results of a rigorous experimental investigation to develop a structural light-transmitting concrete that can possibly be used in load-bearing components of buildings. The samples are manufactured with bundled fibres placed in a grid of even spacing and Self-Compacting Concrete. The quality of concrete is ascertained by the fresh properties and the effect of the fibres on compressive strength, flexural strength, and transmittance have been reported. The combinations that have satisfactory performance have been identified, and an optimal mix has been determined. The optimal mix is a combination of 4 strand bundles of 1 mm diameter fibres placed 12 mm apart. The mix had the best optical performance while having satisfactory strength characteristics.
