Building information modeling course for senior architecture and civil undergraduates GUC
摘要
Building Information Modeling has become one of the most important systems and processes in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Different countries around the world are racing to develop BIM strategies and processes to integrate the system into their construction industry. This created the need for trained experts who would join this system. The universities and other research organizations had the burden to provide well-trained graduates who can deal with the latest technology in BIM systems. The German University in Cairo started in 2019 by offering a collaborative course on BIM to students in the Architecture and Civil programs of the Engineering faculty, in consideration of the existing overlap in the disciplines perspectives and in an effort to boost shared views through Group projects and conducted, guest lecture speakers are invited, and cases studies are presented. The course introduced using a project-based system to develop a project that simulates the BIM life cycle of the project. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the collaborative BIM course offered at German University in Cairo encompassing both Architecture and Civil programs.
