Experimental studies on improving the potential properties using Eggshell powder based geopolymer concrete with sustainable materials

This Research work represents the investigation of the mechanical, durable and microstructural properties of Geopolymer concrete (GPC) using Eggshell powder (ESP), Class F Flyash (FA) and Ground Granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS). An combination of these materials was determined by using the mechanical properties of the compressive strength test and durable properties like acid attack tests and sorptivity test were conducted with mix proportions using FA with GGBS and ESP. The test results are taken on the optimum mix proportions of GPC from 7 days to 90 days at ambient curing conditions respectively. This paper aims to examine the effects of chemical changes in GPC paste using Reaction Generating Liquid (RGL) on the strength and durable properties to analyze the microstructure characteristics through SEM, XRD and FTIR tests. The porosity analysis enabled us indirectly to verify the remarkable mechanical performance obtained by the activation of polymerization according to the chemical components of the RGL.
