Experimental investigation of non-prismatic hybrid plane frame containing glass fiber reactive powder concrete and conventional concrete under static load
摘要
This research includes experimental investigations to study the behavior of non-prismatic reinforced concrete frames hybridized by reactive powder concrete with glass fiber (RPC). The parametric study includes the hybridization of the normal-strength concrete frame (NSC) with RPC with different proportions and locations. The specimens were tested under two static concentrated loads (third-points loading). The experimental results were presented and discussed the effect of hybridization with RPC on the structural behavior of the concrete frame through the cracking load and crack pattern, mode of failure and ultimate load, load–deflection curve at the mid-span of the beam, and the deflected shapes of the frames. The results showed good compatibility between the NSC and the RPC for all locations of the presence of the RPC. The presence of RPC in specific zones improved the behavior of the frame and changed the type of failure from shear failure in the control frame to a bending failure, as well as increasing the ultimate load of the frame, and this was the purpose of this study. The ultimate load increased by 10.8% when hybridizing the frame by 25% and 13% when hybridizing by 50% at the edges of the beam. By changing the hybridization locations with the same percentage of 50%, the ultimate load increase was 15.1% and 18.9% for the upper half and the lower half of the beam, respectively, while when using 100% hybridization, the ultimate load increase was 21.6%.
