Der Kompromiss in den Wirtschaftswissenschaften – ein Forschungsüberblick

In recent years, an increased interest in compromise as a conflict resolution technique has been observed in the social sciences. This is manifested, among other things, in recent books on the subject and the establishment of research institutions dealing with conflicts and compromises. Against this background, this article provides an overview of the current state of economic research on compromise. It turns out that compromise is not a central analytical category in economics and that there is no elaborated economic theory of compromise. Nevertheless, studies can be found in the economic literature that deal more or less extensively and in depth with compromise as a technique for regulating or pacifying conflicts between individuals, social interest groups, and states. In addition to taking stock, the article also draws attention to desiderata for future research in the field of compromise economics.
