Investigation of progressive collapse resistance of reinforced concrete flat slab buildings under UFC column removal scenarios
摘要
This study investigates the progressive collapse behavior of reinforced concrete buildings with flat slab systems through comprehensive parametric analysis. Five building models with 3, 5, 9, 12, and 15 stories were designed and analyzed under column removal scenarios to assess their vulnerability. A total of 120 analyses were conducted, involving the removal of columns at six different locations in the floor plan and at various story levels along the building height. These scenarios were developed in accordance with the guidelines set by the UFC 4-023-03. The structural performance of each building was evaluated based on the acceptance criteria defined in the UFC. The results indicated that all models demonstrated adequate resistance to progressive collapse. Load redistribution following column removal primarily occurred through the Vierendeel action, facilitated by the interaction between the flat slabs and adjacent columns above the removed element. Key parameters such as lateral displacements, plastic rotations, and load redistribution mechanisms were examined in detail to better understand the structural response.
