Evaluation of fracture parameters of concrete notched beams containing Nano TiO2 and ground granulated blast furnace slag
摘要
The study investigated the effect of Nano TiO2 (NT) (1, 2, 3, and 4%) and ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) (10, 20, 30, and 40%). 153 notched beams were tested under a three-point bending test using the size effect method. Closed loop servo control machine having 50 kN capacity with the crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) control with the crack opening rate 0.0005 mm/s. The results showed the fracture energy and toughness increased with an increase in the percentage of NT and GGBS. The fracture energy increases by 28.32% and fracture toughness increases by 39.28% for the mix varying from NT1G10 to NT4G40, same was trend observed for compressive strength. The characteristic strength and length of the fracture process zone decrease with an increase, however the brittleness number increases with an increase in the percentage of NT and GGBS, which indicates the brittle behavior.
