Utilizing response surface methodology (RSM) to predict the mechanical characteristics of concrete incorporating treated recycled construction and demolition waste aggregate (CDW) and discarded reverse osmosis (RO) membrane

摘要

This study is to generate a statistical model through the application of Response Surface Methodology (RSM) for the purpose of predicting concrete's mechanical properties. It is manufactured using various proportions of recycled Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW), which serve as partial and complete replacements for natural coarse aggregates. Additionally, Thin Film Composite Polyamide fiber (TFC PA) extracted from end-of-life Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes is used as an additive to strengthen the concrete. The study involves an examination of the compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strength of concrete with different proportions of CDW and TFC PA. The findings indicate that the optimum percentage of TFC PA is 3% for all replacement proportions of CDW. Furthermore, the regression model developed using RSM demonstrates a strong correlation between the variables and the observed outcome. The optimal p-values, R2 values across all the responses, and the f-value for the responses collectively offer compelling evidence of the statistical model's statistical significance.
