Quantifying limestone façade performance: an analysis and ranking using logistic model

Diagnosing the pathology of a building’s façade is extremely important to support rational and technically informed decisions about maintenance and restoration requirements. This research visually investigates the façades of apartment buildings that represent the most familiar residential pattern in urban and suburban areas in Amman city and has been in use for varying periods of time. The buildings considered in the study were classified into three distinct age groups: 0–5 years, 5–10 years, and 10–20 years. A sample of 36 buildings, 12 in each age group, underwent detailed visual inspections and data collection. The collected data were analyzed using the Logistic model. The Logistic model proved effective in identifying the likelihood of anomalies occurring in the façades of the buildings under study. It provided a valuable tool for building owners and managers to monitor the health of their façades and take preventative measures to avoid any potential damage. Findings reveal that the most prevalent anomalies occur in buildings aged 10–20 years, emphasizing the need for targeted maintenance strategies.
