The effect of lathe steel scrap in the geopolymer concrete and its durability aspects

The present paper highlights on the geopolymer concrete (GPC) incorporated in the industrial waste of lathe steel scrap and its strength and durability of the LSGC. Nowadays lot of research is carried out in the geopolymer in the various concentration of sodium hydroxide and industrial waste’s lathe steel scrap samples for the suitable to achieve strength and durability aspects. The waste generated from lathe machines which has similar physical and chemical properties of steel fibers and this will also improve the economy and sustainable. Fly ash were also studied the high amount of reactive silica with variable glass content based pozzolana such as fly ash. GPCs require Alkaline Activator Solution (AAS) consisting of hydroxide and silicate of sodium whose concentrations play major roles in geopolymerisation reactions. The both the mix of 10 M & 12 M compressive strength results are good (0.5–2%) as compering with 0% of steel scrap. Effect of fly ash on workability, compressive strength, setting time and water content are studied. The test result indicated that the addition of lathe waste significantly improves the compressive, flexural and the tensile properties of concrete when compared with control specimen.
