Technological Landscape of the Metal Casting Industry for the Next 30 Years
摘要
The Computer Integrated Manufacturing CIM to Steel Casting Industry was published and presented in 1992 when the author was working in a steel foundry. Since 1993, the author has been engaged with technological advancements and research in the areas of High Performance Alloys & Processes (SSM, Al/Mg Castings, MMC, ADI/Hi-Si-Mo ductile iron, Ni-based super alloys), Industry 4.0 (Digital Manufacturing, AI/ML driven Rapid Certification and Decision making frameworks and algorithms, Common Data Modeling, 3D Sand Printing AM4MC, Metal AM, Advance Process Simulation), Casting Conversions, Light-Weighting, Rapid Prototyping, CAE, online tools for design engineers such as CADS and MMDS and Risering Aids. Additionally, the author has published numerous technical papers on the outcomes described within this article. The intent of this silver anniversary technical paper is to outline recent advancements in the areas described above and provide perspective on certain technologies that will play a dominant role in the future the metal casting industry.
