摘要

Zr-containing rare earth magnesium alloys have garnered considerable attention due to their exceptional properties, making them highly desirable for various engineering applications (Chen et al. in Mater Rev 30(9):1–9, 2016). However, flow line defects have been observed to impact the mechanical performance of these alloys, warranting a thorough investigation into their origin and impact. Utilizing advanced analytical techniques, such as scanning electron microscopy and non-destructive testing, we elucidate the microstructural characteristics of these defects and their underlying formation mechanisms by numerical simulation and experiment. Subsequently, the influence of flow line defects on the mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and ductility, is thoroughly assessed. Furthermore, this work outlines practical strategies to mitigate the formation of flow line defects during processing and fabrication, thereby enhancing the overall mechanical integrity of Zr-containing rare earth magnesium alloys. This research contributes valuable insights to the field of advanced magnesium alloys, offering guidelines for engineering design and industrial implementation.
