摘要

The world is on the verge of an apocalypse due to Homo sapiens’ ruthless exploitation and misappropriation of everything on this unique planet. His insatiable greed and materialistic approach have turned this paradisiacal Earth into hell by creating ecological imbalances, global crises, extinction crises and various calamities. It is the rallying cry of this time to teach human beings the significance of co-existence and cohabitation. The new social theory, New Materialisms—‘Turn to matter,’ employs the linguistic concept of ‘animacy’ to show the liveliness and vibrancy of matter. It is uniquely diverse in its articulation. This theory critiques the anthropocentric worldview and advocates ethical solidarity with non-human life forms and matter. This paper aims to study New Materialism, and Hylozoism and the deconstruction of anthropocentric worldview in the light of Sri Aurobindo’s Mystical Ontology which perceives all of existence as a dynamic expression of the Divine. The imperative of our time is to explore the ancient Indian wisdom rearticulated by Sri Aurobindo in modern times, to promote ecological awareness, spiritual immanence, and a radical rethinking of human-nonhuman relationships and channel hostility, self-seeking, and destructive impulses into allophillia.
