Data Literacy als Gegenstand der Erwachsenenbildung – eine Programmanalyse

In the context of digital change and the associated datafication of many areas of life, the competent and critically reflected handling of data and its use is becoming increasingly relevant (data literacy). In light of this, the article examines whether and how data and data-related applications are addressed in adult education courses. 137 programs of adult education centres (Volkshochschulen) from the years 2010 to 2021 were analysed quantitatively and qualitatively with regard to the distribution and content orientation of data-related courses. Courses that potentially promote data literacy are included in almost all programs and show an increase in the period under review. The content analysis points out that many courses focus on data protection and security and only a few focus on the active processing of data.
