Objective <p>Clinical studies have confirmed the impact of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors like Nivolumab, Pembrolizumab, Avelumab, and Atezolizumab on ovarian cancer. This meta-analysis aims to examine the effectiveness of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapies specifically in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer.</p> Methods <p>A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library until June 2024. We used a combination of keywords including ovarian cancer, and PD-1, PD-L1 inhibitor. The combined objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) were statistically analyzed using R version 4.3.3. Additional subgroup analyses were conducted to determine the factors influencing the risk of bias.</p> Results <p>Ten trials involving 571 ovarian cancer (OC) patients were included after a thorough full-text evaluation. A random-effects model was selected, yielding a combined ORR of 12% (95%CI: 7% to 17%), with significant heterogeneity (I2 = 62%, <i>p</i> &lt; 0.01). The combined DCR was 53% (95%CI 44% to 62%) with moderate heterogeneity (I2 = 40%, <i>p</i> = 0.14). Four studies involving single PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors had usable ORR data., showing a combined ORR of 6% (95%CI: 3% to 9%). Three studies investigating the combination of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors with pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) reported an ORR of 15% (95%CI: 10% to 19%). Two studies on PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors combined with antiangiogenic therapy showed a combined ORR of 16% (95%CI: 4% to 27%).</p> Conclusion <p>PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors alone or in combination have limited efficacy for platinum-resistant ovarian cancer.</p>

Objective
