Background <p>This study presented the 2010–2019 trend of BC in women over ≥ 55 by socio-demographic index (SDI) and geographical regions.</p> Methods <p>We obtained data annually from 2010 to 2019 from the 2019 global burden of disease study (GBD) and analyzed the incidence, death rates, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) associated with BC across different classifications, such as global trend, SDI, continents, World Bank Regions, World Health Organization (WHO) regions, GBD regions, and National and territorial division, from 2010 to 2019.</p> Results <p>Globally, in women aged ≥ 55 years, the BC incidence rates increased during the years 2010–2019, while the BC death and DALY rates have experienced a decreasing trend. According to 2019 statistics, the highest rates of incidence and death of BC were observed in high-income countries and high SDI countries, while the DALYS rate of this cancer was higher in low-income and low SDI countries. In 2019, the highest rate of BC incidence was in America and the highest death rate was in Europe. The highest BC incidence rates in 2019 were related to high-income North American and Eastern sub-Saharan African countries, respectively. The lowest rates of BC incidence were in the South-East Asia Region and the lowest rates of death and DALY were in the Western Pacific Region. Region of the Americas had the highest incidence rate, the European Region had the highest death rate, and the Eastern Mediterranean Region had the highest DALY rate in 2019.</p> Conclusion <p>In recent years, the BC burden has decreased in higher income areas, while it has increased in lower income areas. Even over time, inequalities can widen. Therefore, preventing the acceleration of these inequalities, changes in modifiable disease-related factors, and developing preventive and early diagnosis policies are particularly important.</p>

Background

Methods
