Validation of Quality of Life Questionnaire (QLQ EN24) in Malayalam

Quality of life questionnaire (QLQ) EN24 is the questionnaire used for measuring quality of life (QOL) of patients with endometrial cancers developed by the European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC). This questionnaire is in the English language. In order to use this questionnaire in a non-English-speaking population, the English questionnaire has to be initially translated to the local languages.

The aim of the study is to validate the EORTC quality of life questionnaire for endometrial cancers EN24 in Malayalam after translation.

Under the supervision of the EORTC QLQ team, the translation procedure of EORTC QOL EN24 was done.

A total of 50 patients with endometrial cancer at varying stages of treatment completed the questionnaire. There were no missing data. The average time to finish the interview was 8 min. The Cronbach’s alpha, which signifies the internal consistency of the questionnaire, was found to be > 0.7 in all the domains studied, except in poor body image domain which suggest that the questionnaire has good internal consistency reliability. The intraclass correlation coefficients varied from 0.43 to 1.
