A Rare Case of Non-Puerperal Uterine Inversion Associated with Adenosarcoma of the Uterus: A Case Report

Uterine inversion can be puerperal or nonpuerperal. Nonpuerperal inversion is always associated with a pathological process that can be either benign or malignant. The most common malignant pathology associated is uterine sarcoma.

We herein report a case of a premenopausal nulliparous woman presenting with bleeding per vagina. On evaluation, she was diagnosed with uterine inversion. MRI of the abdomen showed a heterogenous mass lesion arising from the uterine fundus along with uterine inversion. Biopsy from the mass revealed a lowgrade adenosarcoma. The patient underwent surgical staging with preservation of ovaries by ovarian transposition. The patient is on adjuvant chemotherapy due to the presence of a metastatic pelvic node.

This case highlights the rarity of the disease when it manifests in varied presentations. Nonpuerperal uterine inversion should lead to a suspicion of malignancy and should be managed accordingly.
