Analysis of Settlement Deformation of Embankment Dam in Longyang Reservoir

摘要

The Longyang Reservoir is located on the first terrace of the Luo River, and its length is 1.63 km. The geological conditions under the reservoir are complicated, and uneven settlement is possible. In order to reduce the possibility of cracks, dam breaks and other accidents caused by uneven settlement during the embankment filling process, in this study, we established a three-dimensional model of the embankment dam for the Longyang Reservoir using the finite element (FE) method, in combination with geological survey data. The settlement deformation of the embankment dam foundation with different filling rates and foundation treatment depths was analyzed. The results show that the settlement calculated by the three-dimensional FE method is greater than that calculated by the two-dimensional FE method, which in turn is greater than the settlement calculated by the layer-wise summation method. The settlement laws of two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element method are almost the same. The settlement value of the embankment dam is positively correlated with the filling height. The maximum settlement occurs at the maximum filling height of the embankment dam and is 2.45 m. As the embankment dam filling speed decreases, the foundation settlement of the embankment dam decreases. Considering the development laws for embankment dam cracks, the construction rate is suggested to be less than 0.5 m/day. With an increase in the foundation treatment depth, the vertical settlement and stress of the embankment dam foundation decrease non-linearly with an increase in the filling height, but the reduction effect is not good. Therefore, it is recommended that foundation treatments should not be conducted.
