A Call for Resistance: Listening to and Acting on the Analyses of Martin Thrupp

This paper responds to the call to recognise the contributions of the late Martin Thrupp to the arena of education in Aotearoa (New Zealand). It draws on some of his analysis pertaining to middle-class capture of class privilege, and how this hinders socially just educational provision. Thrupp’s ideas are then considered in relation to the early childhood care and education sector with regard to issues of privatisation, curriculum and assessment.
