Aging-Induced Consecutive Transformations in a Ni-Rich NiTiNb Alloy

摘要

This paper reports the effect of aging on the transformation behavior of a NiTiNb alloy. After aging, the NiTiNb alloy exhibited an incomplete A → R transformation followed by two separate transformations to the B19ʹ martensite, i.e., an A → M transformation and an R → M transformation. Such transformation behavior is ascribed to the composition variation between Ni₄Ti₃ precipitates. The composition variation is caused by the inhibition effect of Nb on Ni diffusion in Ni₄Ti₃ formation during aging.
