<p>This study inspects the nexus between agricultural imports and food security in East European countries by controlling other crucial factors such as food price inflation, political stability, CO<sub>2</sub> emissions, temperature, and precipitations from 2001 to 2021. In order to estimate the robust outcome in the presence of autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity, and cross-sectional dependency, the study used the Panel-corrected standard error model. Further, we analysed the nonlinear effect of agricultural imports on food security. The findings of the study revealed an inverted U-shaped relationship between agricultural import and food security, which indicates that agricultural imports initially enhance food security and, after a point, eventually deteriorate. Moreover, there is a positive relationship between food security and CO<sub>2</sub> emission, political stability, temperature, and precipitation is also found in the present study, whereas food price inflation is negatively related to food security. Hence, to address short-term needs, policymakers should encourage the import of agricultural products while simultaneously focusing on long-term strategies such as prioritizing domestic production, improving agricultural productivity, and promoting sustainable farming in order to achieve self-sufficiency in their respective countries.</p>
