摘要

Despite the global emergence of digitalization technologies that contribute to the development of digital payment, France remains far from a cashless future. The debate among stakeholders about enablers to cashless transactions through digital payment in France is still topical. Given that the primary focus in prior research on technology adoption has been the viewpoints of users, there is a lack of research that provides a thorough analysis of digital payment enablers from the perspectives of experts. Based on a Grey DEMATEL approach, this study aims to identify the prominent enablers of digital payment adoption in France and to study the cause-and-effect relationships among them in a multi-expert stakeholder perspective. The considered stakeholders in the present research are practitioners and academicians. Our findings show that both stakeholders agree on common prominent enablers related to digital literacy, technological innovation, and transparency level, which necessitate decision-makers' attention to strengthen the French digital payment system toward a cashless future and sustainable development as a whole. This study brings forth unique implications surrounding the adoption of digital payment. However, the lack of convergence between stakeholders' viewpoints provides insights into the information asymmetry in the sector that needs to be promptly defeated.
